Welcome to my site dedicated to the 4th Generation Toyota Celica.
Welcome to my site dedicated to the 4th Generation Toyota Celica.
My name is Jack and I reside in Northeast Ohio USA. I'm a Microwave Radio Engineer by trade. But as I suspect my parents knew by giving me that name, I'm a Jack of all trades. There isn't anything I won't tackle. I'm self taught on just about everything and if I don't know it now, rest assured I'll figure it out. I have to thank my wife and kids for the support they have given me over the years with my love for these cars, which they also share. You may also know me from the st162.net forum as 1fstgts.
The Toyota Celica's from 1986-1989 are known as the 4th Generation. The 4th Gens were Toyotas first FWD drive Celica. They were extremely sporty and head turners. They had superb handling and the AWD Turbo version known as the All-Trac in the US and GT-Four everywhere else, those cars went on to be a dominate force in the rallying community taking multiple world championships. There was a very limited number of All-Tracs imported to the USA in 1988 and 89.
My very first 4th Gen was a 1987 GT-S Liftback almost identical to the one on the left. I had the car in high school in the late 90's and from there I fell in love with the cars. Unfortunately I have no actual pictures of the car. I should say I became obsessed with them. More than 25 years have passed since my first 4th gen came and went, owning a few more along the way, to the collection I have now.
I came up with the term "The 4th Gen Lab" for my garage seeing as I was constantly out working one of them or coming up with interesting stuff for my Celica's. I'm by no means an expert, but I have years of experience working on these cars from routine maintenance to one off mods.
The aftermarket world for the 4th gen is pretty limited and we have to get creative and fabricate special items. Parts are also getting hard to come by and I've joked that I should start a 4th gen parts business due to the number of 4th gens I've picked up and parted out over the years. But I've wanted to help other owners out in the process of getting things I've needed.
I want to share that knowledge and lessons learned to long time owners or the newcomers that are just discovering these great 80's sports cars. So welcome and as I have time, Ill post pictures of my progress on my projects and how-to guides a long the way. You'll find those in the Write-Ups/Project Section.

If you are a 4th gen owner, I would suggest finding the ST162.NET Facebook group and join it. If you are a Celica Owner of any generation and from the great state of OHIO, look up the Ohio Celicas group and join that.
I'm also on instagram @4thgenlab

Having this site is a benefit to me to keep a log of my builds, but it also costs me just over $200USD every year to host it. If you find any value in my how-to articles or the site in general and want to help me keep this site up and running I would certainly appreciate it.
